Doch diese hohen Leistungsanforderungen, bei gleichzeitig zunehmend schlechteren Lernbedingungen, aufgrund von immer größeren Klassen, weniger Lehrern, etc., gehen tatsächlich an vielen Schülern nicht spurlos vorüber. Dies zeigt sich zunächst vielleicht offen in Angst vor Klassenarbeiten oder allgemeiner Schulangst. Doch bestehen solche durch Überforderung verursachten Ängste längerfristig, führt das zu einer seelischen Dauerspannung, die bald weitreichende und schwerwiegende Auswirkungen hat.

Auf der Verhaltensebene zeigen sich offene oder versteckte Aggressionen, Depressionen, Hyperaktivität, Konzentrationsschwäche oder andere problematische Verhaltens weisen wie übermäßiger Konsum von Süßigkeiten oder gar Alkohol oder Drogen. Ein anderer Weg über den sich die Daueranspannung nach außen hin zeigt, sind psychosomatische Beschwerden oder Erkrankungen, als Zeichen der Überforderung. So haben bereits viele Schüler Kopfschmerzen, Migräne, Magen- Darmbeschwerden oder Schlafstörungen.

Zum einen können die Medikamente z.T. noch ungeklärte Auswirkungen auf die weitere körperliche oder psychische Entwicklung des Kindes haben, insbesondere deshalb, da Kinder aufgrund ihres im Vergleich zu Erwachsenen geringeren Körpergewichts leicht Überdosierungen erhalten.
